Audi Q7 vs Q9: which three-row Audi belongs in your driveway?
Same 429-horsepower heart, very different footprints. Here's how Audi's midsize and brand-new full-size three-rows stack up.
Audi's best-seller got a packaging shake-up. Here's the plain-English version.

The Q5 is Audi's best-selling model, and you see them all over Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for good reason. It's the right size for tight parking, quick enough to have fun on I-10, and it feels properly premium inside. This generation arrived all-new for 2025 on Audi's PPC (Premium Platform Combustion) underpinnings. The 2026 model then got a big hardware and software refresh.
Under the hood, it's the same 2.0-liter turbo four with 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet. It runs through a seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch gearbox and gets to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds.
The 2026 update was the big one. It brought a fresh MMI (Multi Media Interface) screen design and a new steering wheel with the scroll wheel back. It added new drive-select options, an available 4K dashcam, more parking and driver-assist help, and smarter voice control. The panoramic sunroof also became standard on the Q5 SUV.
The Sportback swaps the upright tail for a sloped roofline. The SQ5 steps up to a 362-horsepower V6 and sport air suspension. Our SQ5 guide has the details. Need a third row? That's Q7 and Q9 territory.
